Spring will most definitely be in the air at Epsom Playhouse when the
90 or so ladies of the fabulous Elmbridge Ladies Choir take to the
stage for their ‘Spring Divas' afternoon concert on Sunday 22nd April.
Singing
to raise funds for Elmbridge Music's Grant Scheme, the fun-loving ladies are eager to perform at
such a great venue and promise to deliver a sprightly selection of
favourite songs.
‘There will be something for everyone', says Dale Thomas, Musical Director of Elmbridge Ladies Choir. ‘Lush Gershwin harmonies, 80s rock, African spirituals, quite a few show tunes, and even some Katy Perry.'
Elmbridge Music adds another string to its bow – Launches new Orchestra
In a move that has brought great delight to its 300 members, Elmbridge Music is immensely proud and inordinately excited to announce the formation of Elmbridge Light Orchestra (ELO), and is looking for musicians who would like the opportunity to accompany both Elmbridge Choir and Elmbridge Ladies Choir at their concerts!
The two choirs have, to date, mainly relied on professional backing tracks to accompany their performances, but now feel that having live accompaniment will add another dimension to their already popular concerts.
Music fans in Surrey are being treated in the form of a weekly two-hour radio programme dedicated to choral singing and big band music which presented live on Brooklands Radio by Cliff van Tonder, Musical Director of Elmbridge Choir and founder of local charitable music society, Elmbridge Music.
‘Sing It! Swing It!' takes to the airwaves every Sunday from 3 - 5pm. Each week the programme will feature a local choir or band and interviews with musical directors, band leaders, singers or players from the Surrey area.
