A raffle held at Surrey Music’s ‘Christmas Crackers’ concert at the HG Wells Suite in Woking has raised around £320 for our ‘Get Music Going!’ grants scheme. The prize of a watercolour print was kindly donated by Cobham artist Elizabeth Reynaud who has been a huge supporter of Surrey Music since its formation more than 7 years ago. The Mayor of Elmbridge, Cllr Janet Turner, picked out the winning ticket at Esher Civic Centre last week and we are pleased to announce that the lucky winner of the print is Don Bale from Whiteley Village, who is pictured here together with Elizabeth.
Our sincere and grateful thanks to Elizabeth Reynaud and hearty congratulations to Don.
"Get Music Going" is going strong!
"Get Music Going" is a galloping success! Since it's founding in 2011, over £5,500 has been given out to fund enthusiastic musicians - both young people and adults. The spread of talent that Surrey Music Society has supported is impressive: a Youth Band that is now able to expand its training of young players, two young singers, a talented guitarist who is now at Music College, a young pianist, a multitalented young instrumentalist and a Senior Citizen with a passion for playing the drums! All have found support, moral and financial, from Surrey Music Society and we are hopeful that this is only where it begins!
Spring will most definitely be in the air at Epsom Playhouse when the
90 or so ladies of the fabulous Elmbridge Ladies Choir take to the

to raise funds for Elmbridge Music's Grant Scheme, the fun-loving ladies are eager to perform at

‘There will be something for everyone', says Dale Thomas, Musical Director of Elmbridge Ladies Choir. ‘Lush Gershwin harmonies, 80s rock, African spirituals, quite a few show tunes, and even some Katy Perry.'
Elmbridge Music adds another string to its bow – Launches new Orchestra
In a move that has brought great delight to its 300 members, Elmbridge Music is immensely proud and inordinately excited to announce the formation of Elmbridge Light Orchestra (ELO), and is looking for musicians who would like the opportunity to accompany both Elmbridge Choir and Elmbridge Ladies Choir at their concerts!
The two choirs have, to date, mainly relied on professional backing tracks to accompany their performances, but now feel that having live accompaniment will add another dimension to their already popular concerts.
Elmbridge Community Music Society is looking for an inspirational and motivated individual to assist the Musical Director in leading its thriving 130-strong mixed voice choir.
Under the leadership of its founder, Cliff van Tonder, Elmbridge Choir has been delighting audiences since its formation in 2005 with its varied and ever-increasing repertoire of lively pop classics, ‘songs from the shows’ and beautiful African songs.
However, as Cliff is also involved in managing the many exciting projects that Elmbridge Music has in the pipeline, Elmbridge Music would like to find someone to assist him in leading the choir. The society is looking for someone who, together with Cliff, can teach and challenge the choir members to perfect their musical performance whilst at the same time nurturing the sense of fun and fellowship that is the foundation of the choir.
