November 2011 Thanks to generous funding from Elmbridge Music Grants Scheme, Bookham Youth Centre's recording studio is up and running once more.

Elmbridge Music was delighted to hear from Bookham Youth and Community Association when they applied for financial assistance for the purchase of a new mixing desk for their recording studio. As a charity, Elmbridge Music's primary aim is to help and encourage people, regardless of ability or social circumstance to have access to and to participate in musical activities by offering grants. As this application fulfilled Elmbridge Music's criteria, the full amount was gladly granted

‘The musical activities and opportunities provided for young people by the Association are to be applauded', says Sonia Caval of Elmbridge Music Grants Scheme. ‘This is a great example of the type of work that we want to encourage and we are very pleased to be able to help the Youth Centre.'
The Association plans to run a series of workshops for young people to gain skills in music technology. ‘We hope to see young people develop their technical skills, support their peers who play and pass on their knowledge to others', explains Sue Lawrence from Bookham Youth and Community Association. ‘This piece of equipment will give them the opportunity to make and mix down high quality recordings using multi-track techniques.'

Receiving the piece of equipment on behalf of the Bookham Youth and Community Centre, the Association's Chairman, David Cox OBE, passed on his grateful thanks to Elmbridge Music for helping them to make a positive difference for young people.

Elmbridge Music would like to hear from individuals or groups within Elmbridge and the surrounding Boroughs who wish to improve their own or other people's lives through music. Grants of up to £1000 for individuals and up to £2000 for groups are available for people and projects which meet the Grants Scheme criteria.
