There were smiles all around at Cobham Day Centre on Friday
afternoon as Elmbridge Music AllStars performed their second concert of 2012 to
a very appreciative audience.
With warmth and humour the group's leader, Freda Collins -
who made a very glamorous and splendid master of ceremonies - skilfully led the enthusiastic group through
a range of songs to show off their talents and to demonstrate what they have
been practising at their weekly sessions.
We were treated to rousing cheers with pom-poms, songs with
actions, dance, ‘call and response songs' (we've learnt something too Freda!),
songs with a diverse range of musical instruments and the Cobham Link members
delighted us with their solos of London's Burning. Three cheers for them! We
were also lucky enough to witness a live horror-themed ‘radio play', complete
with scary sound effects (and VERY effective they were too!).
The home-made cakes and cup of tea at the end of the concert
provided an opportunity for us to mingle with members of the group. Looking at the huge beaming smiles on
everyone's faces it would be hard to tell who had enjoyed themselves more - the
performers or the audience!
Congratulations and thank you to Elmbridge Music AllStars,
not only for providing us with a wonderful afternoon's entertainment, but for
your dedication and commitment. It is evident that the Cobham Link members gain
so much pleasure from being part of such a fantastic musical group.
