Music fans in Surrey are being treated in the form of a weekly two-hour radio programme dedicated to choral singing and big band music which presented live on Brooklands Radio by Cliff van Tonder, Musical Director of Elmbridge Choir and founder of local charitable music society, Elmbridge Music.
‘Sing It! Swing It!' takes to the airwaves every Sunday from 3 - 5pm. Each week the programme will feature a local choir or band and interviews with musical directors, band leaders, singers or players from the Surrey area.
Elmbridge Community Music Society is looking for an inspirational and motivated individual to assist the Musical Director in leading its thriving 130-strong mixed voice choir.
Under the leadership of its founder, Cliff van Tonder, Elmbridge Choir has been delighting audiences since its formation in 2005 with its varied and ever-increasing repertoire of lively pop classics, ‘songs from the shows’ and beautiful African songs.
However, as Cliff is also involved in managing the many exciting projects that Elmbridge Music has in the pipeline, Elmbridge Music would like to find someone to assist him in leading the choir. The society is looking for someone who, together with Cliff, can teach and challenge the choir members to perfect their musical performance whilst at the same time nurturing the sense of fun and fellowship that is the foundation of the choir.
Returning to the UK triumphant from a weekend of singing in Poland, Elmbridge Choir members are thrilled to have picked up a bronze award for their magnificent efforts in the Krakow Advent and Christmas Choir Festival.
The 130 or so members in the choir and the combined talents of musical
directors Cliff van Tonder and Dale Thomas so impressed the competition
judges that they were actually only one point away from winning the
silver award.
